Description

The ice house at Thorpe Hall is an 18th-century structure, with an entrance passage added in the 19th century. It is built of brick with stone dressings and features a domical shape, measuring about 4 metres in diameter, constructed entirely in header brickwork and covered with soil. The entrance includes a porch with a round-headed boarded door set in a plain brick surround, leading to an earth-covered tunnel that connects to the main structure, which has a low coped parapet.
