Description
The stable block at Thorpe Hall is a late 18th-century building constructed of brick in English bond, featuring a timber eaves cornice and a slate roof. It stands two storeys high and consists of 13 bays arranged in a 5:3:5 pattern, with a symmetrical elevation. The center of the building projects slightly forward beneath a low pediment.
The central section has boarded carriage doors set beneath a segmental brick arch with a key-block, flanked by 16-pane sash windows that have stone sills and shallow segmental gauged brick arches. Above, the first floor features 6-pane sash windows with similar stone sills and arches.
To the left, there is a wing with 6-panel doors and rectangular fanlights with glazing bars, alternating with 12-pane windows on the ground floor, while the first floor has 6-pane sash windows, all under gauged brick arches. The right wing has similar window arrangements, with a 20th-century carriage door inserted in the center bay.
Throughout the building, windows and doors are framed with moulded wooden architraves. The structure also features a dentilled timber eaves cornice and a cornice on the pediment, along with axial stacks and a hipped roof.
