Description
The Statue of Bacchus and Ariadne, dating from 1903, is made of terracotta. It features a moulded base on a square plinth, which has a half-round projection at the front and sunk moulded panels on the sides. The statue includes a moulded cornice with bead and reel detailing to the astragal and egg and dart decoration to the ovolo. The statue depicts paired figures draped in clothing, walking with their arms entwined. Historical photographs of the gardens show that this statue was originally placed as the centerpiece of the long lawn opposite the house.
