Description
The Dairy at Thorpe Hall is an early 19th-century building constructed of stuccoed brick with a timber eaves cornice and a graduated slate roof. It has an eight-sided plan featuring two long sides and a verandah. The building has a chamfered plinth and a main door that consists of six raised and fielded panels topped with a fanlight in a round-headed opening. Round-headed windows on all other sides are adorned with wooden Y-tracery and transoms. The verandah is supported by filleted cast-iron columns that have moulded caps and bases. A single round stack is positioned on one of the long sides of the building. Inside, there is a regular octagonal dairy at the north end, with windows featuring glass painted with female figures and geometric designs. The dairy is completely tiled with coloured glazed tiles secured by moulded wooden fillets, and it includes a white marble table and bowl.
