Description
No. 62 on Middle Street North is a house built in 1838. It is constructed of brick with stone dressings and has a slate roof. The building is two storeys tall and features five bays arranged in a 2:1:2 pattern. The late 19th-century door and fanlight have radial glazing set in panelled reveals. There is a porch supported by Tuscan columns and pilasters, which hold up an entablature. The windows are sashes with glazing bars, stone sills, and cambered wedge lintels throughout. A band runs along the first floor. The house has end and rear stacks and a hipped roof. It was originally built as the residence of the master of the Union Workhouse, which still stands at the rear but is not of special interest.
