Description
Stable Court is a group of four houses that were originally a stable block, dating from the late 17th century. The building is constructed of red brick, with rubble at the rear, and features stone dressings and a timber eaves cornice. It has a graduated slate roof and is a single storey structure, with a mid-20th century inserted floor. The facade consists of seven bays arranged in a 3:1:3 pattern and includes a chamfered plinth.
The entrance features a 20th-century glazed door set in an eared architrave, which is topped by a pulvinated frieze and a segmental pediment. This is flanked by Ionic pilasters that extend to the full height of the building, supporting an entablature and a pulvinated frieze that bears the monogram of the Earls of Burlington. There are six 20th-century windows with mullions and transoms, all set within eared brick architraves. The building is finished with a moulded timber eaves cornice, a hipped roof, and axial stacks.
