Description
Eastgate House is a house built between 1776 and 1799 for Thomas Brooke. It is constructed of red brick and features a timber eaves cornice and a graduated slate roof. The house has two storeys and a symmetrical elevation with five bays, along with later extensions to the right and rear. The entrance door is panelled with margin-pane glazing and is topped by a fanlight with radial glazing, set within a doorcase that has fluted columns and capitals, and is adorned with a low pediment. On either side of the door, there are sash windows with glazing bars and sills, which are positioned under flat wedge lintels with raised keyblocks. The first floor also features five similar windows. The house has a bracketed eaves cornice, raised coped gables on shaped kneelers, and end stacks.
