Description
Nos 54-56 on Market Place is a late 18th-century house that has been divided into two. It is built of red brick and features a pantiled roof. The building has two storeys and four bays. The main entrance consists of a four-panel bolection-moulded door with a fanlight that has a vertical glazing bar. This door is flanked on both sides by sash windows that also have glazing bars and sills. To the right of the main entrance, there is an inserted six-panel door with an overlight featuring a vertical glazing bar. All openings are topped with flat gauged brick arches that have projecting keyblocks. On the extreme right, there is a carriage entrance with an elliptical arch, which also has a projecting keyblock on impost blocks. On the first floor, there are four sash windows with sills and glazing bars, all under flat gauged brick arches with projecting keyblocks. The building features a timber eaves cornice, tumbled-in brick at the raised gables, and has end and axial stacks.
