Description

Welton Manor is a house dating from around 1830, with a later extension added to the right in a matching style. The main part of the house is constructed of white brick with stone dressings, while the extension is of red brick. Both sections have slate roofs. The original, symmetrical front range is two storeys high and three bays wide. It features a plinth and a 19th-century panelled door with an overlight containing radial glazing bars, set within panelled reveals and a soffit, all below a Greek Doric porch with an entablature and a blocking course. To the right of the door is a sash window with glazing bars and a sill, set beneath a slightly cambered brick arch. A similar window is present to the left, but is now blocked. A first-floor band sits above, with three sash windows, also with glazing bars and sills, each set beneath a cambered brick arch; the central window is set in a full-height recess. Painted brackets support the timber eaves cornice, which overhangs the building. A wide eaves line leads to a hipped roof, with axial stacks. The extension to the right has a sash window with glazing bars and sill to the ground floor, with a timber lintel above. A smaller, similar sash window sits on the first floor. Paired brackets are present on the extension's timber eaves cornice, and it also has a hipped roof.
