Description
Hawthorne House is a house from the late 18th century, constructed of brick and colour-washed, topped with a Welsh slate roof. It has two storeys with attics and features three bays, along with a later two-storey, two-bay extension on the right. The central entrance consists of a glazed and panelled door set within a doorcase that has a pulvinated frieze beneath a dentilled cornice. This is flanked by canted bays on both sides, which contain sashes with glazing bars, separated by attached Tuscan shafts and topped with low parapets. On the first floor, there are three sashes with glazing bars. The extension to the right also has sashes with glazing bars on both the ground and first floors. The roof includes dormers with sliding sashes and glazing bars, all under swept roofs. The house features raised coped gables on shaped kneelers and end stacks.
