Description

A pair of cottages dating from the early 19th century, located on the east side of Cowgate in Welton. The cottages are constructed of painted brick with stone dressings and have a graduated slate roof. They are two storeys high, with a 3-bay facade, the bays being shared between the pair. A rendered plinth is present. Steps lead up to paired central doorcases, each containing a 3-panel door with a margin-glazed overlight, set within a panelled pilastered surround featuring a frieze and continuous cornice. Sashes with glazing bars are found on either side of the doors, beneath cambered wedge lintels, all with thin stone sills. The upper floor features similar sashes, and a blind central window with a wedge lintel and thin sill. Bracketed eaves gutters and stone coped gables complete the exterior, with brick stacks.
