Description

The Old Rectory is a late 17th century to early 18th century rectory that has been converted into a house, likely with earlier origins. It is constructed of brown brick and has a pantiled roof. The building features a U-shaped plan with a main range and cross wings, which have been later infilled. The garden elevation is two storeys high, with attics in the cross wings, and consists of seven bays arranged in a 2:3:2 pattern. The windows are sashes with sills and glazing bars throughout, and the ground floor lintels have central raised paterae. The cross wing gables have 3-light casements with sills, with the right gable appearing to retain its original glazing of small rectangular panes set in lead cames. The gables are raised and coped, supported by shaped kneelers, and there are axial stacks.

On the rear (entrance) elevation, to the left, there is a two-panel door with an overlight beneath a large 19th century timber canopy that features an enriched pulvinated frieze. To the right are four sashes with glazing bars and sills, all set under segmental relieving arches. The first floor includes a pair of 19th century oriel windows with sills on shaped brackets, and there is a sash with glazing bars above the door. The original wings have raised coped gables on shaped kneelers, while the infilled section features paired coped shaped gables adorned with heraldic shields.
