Description
The South African War Memorial, located in Central Park, Wallasey, commemorates the South African War from 1899 to 1902. It was created by J. Whitehead and Sons Limited. The memorial is made of rock-faced stone and features a marble statue. The base of the memorial includes inscribed names of those commemorated, while a panel displays an inscription and an olive branch, along with a trophy of arms beneath it. The statue depicts Britannia holding a wreath, a shield, and a flag.
