Description

This listing describes a row of five houses located at 16 to 24 Central Road in Port Sunlight, built in 1911 by architect F.J. Barnish. The houses are constructed with roughcast on a brick base and feature a hipped tile roof with brick chimney stacks.

The buildings are two storeys high and consist of five bays, with the end bays projecting under hipped gables. A drip mould runs over the ground floor, and the deep eaves add to the architectural detail. The windows are three-light small-paned casements. Each entrance has a tile canopy, and the entrances for Nos. 20 and 22 are paired, featuring plank doors with diamond-pattern glazing bars. There are two cross-axial stacks and a lateral stack on the right return. The rear of the houses is similar in design.

Additionally, there is a screen wall on the left return that connects this row of houses to Nos. 26 to 34. The screen wall has a tile roof, two piers, a brick sill band, and three lunettes with iron grilles.
