Description

These ten houses, numbered 46 to 64 Central Road, were built in 1906 as part of the Port Sunlight village development, designed by J. Lomax Simpson. The houses are constructed with a grey brick base extending to the window sills, with plaster upper walls and tile roofs.

The houses are two storeys high with ten bays in total. The central two bays project forward and are topped with paired asymmetrical gables, while two bays at each end also project and have gables. A timber band runs beneath a drip mould. The windows are four-light casements with small panes and cornices. First-floor windows in the gabled bays have bressumers above them, while those in the central bays are three-light windows recessed at the ends. The entrances have doors with small-paned glazed lights. There are two cross-axial chimney stacks, two to the rear, and lateral stacks on the inner and outer returns. The rear of the buildings is similarly designed.
