Description
This is a terrace of four houses, numbers 192 to 198 New Chester Road, Bebington, built in 1899 as part of the Port Sunlight estate, designed by Grayson and Ould. The houses are constructed of brick with a plastered first floor and have hipped tile roofs. The terrace is two storeys high and four bays wide. The central bays feature jettied first floors beneath gables. A timber band runs across the ground floor, and the central bays have a bressumer supported on braced posts, with gables jettied over the windows and decorated bargeboards. The ground floor windows are small-paned casements, with central four-light rectangular bay windows and end canted four-light oriels. The first floor windows are leaded casements of four lights, with central canted oriels and end windows set within architraves. The entrances have chamfered stone lintels and plank doors with three lights. Two chimney stacks run cross-axially across the roof. The rear elevation is similar, and includes privies.
