Description
This is a wayside cross located in the garden wall of the Cross House in Hightown, Crosby. The cross is now partly enclosed by a 20th-century garden wall built around it on three sides, with iron railings at the front. The base of the cross may date from the 17th century or earlier and has been restored, with the cross itself likely renewed around 1900. It is made of sandstone, featuring two courses of roughly-hewn sandstone that form the foundation. On top of this foundation is a rectangular block that supports the renewed cross, which has stop-chamfered corners, a shield on the boss, and hammer-ended arms.
