Description
Rose Cottage is a farmhouse, now a house, probably built in the early 18th century, which has been enlarged and altered over time. It is constructed of handmade brick and has a slate roof. The original layout was likely a single-depth, two-unit baffle-entry plan, with an early addition of a third unit. There are also rear outshuts with catslide roofs that were added in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building has two low storeys, featuring two windows on the first floor of the main range. The doorway is located to the left and is now protected by a 20th-century wooden porch with a part-glazed door. To the right, there are two wide three-light windows on each floor, with segmental brick arches above the ground floor windows, all of which now have 20th-century casements. The third unit to the right has a two-light casement with a similar arch above it and four-pane glazing. There is an extruded brick chimney on the left gable and a ridge chimney at the junction to the right. A brick buttress is present at the former rear left corner, where it meets the 19th-century outshut. The interior has not been inspected.
