Description

The former Methodist Sunday School, now a factory, was built in 1914 and is located on Linacre Road in Litherland. This three-storey building is constructed of red brick and yellow terracotta and features nine bays, with the first three bays being lower than the others. It has sill courses and cornices, topped by a panelled parapet. The building is accentuated by end brick angle pilasters and a pilaster between the third and fourth bays. The second, fifth, and eighth bays are highlighted by panelled terracotta pilasters above the ground floor, with the second bay displaying the date, while the other two are open.

The ground floor windows have segmental heads, while the first floor features elliptical-headed windows, with the fifth and eighth bays having panelled aprons. The second floor also has elliptical-headed windows, but those in the emphasized bays are round-headed. The window in the second bay has a panelled apron, and the end six bays have projecting sills supported by ornate brackets.

The left return to Hartwell Street mirrors the main facade, consisting of two bays with a three-bay terracotta centre. The entrances are paired and segmental-headed, flanked by narrow windows, with a central entrance in the second bay. The second floor features a central Venetian window with a panelled apron and festoons flanking a segmental gable. The right return includes a pediment with the date. This building is included for its group value.
