Description
The John Cross Memorial Drinking Fountain is a memorial drinking fountain dated 1912, located on Seaforth Road in Crosby. It commemorates John Cross, who served as superintendent of police. The fountain is made of limestone and features a bronze plaque. It has a square, round-headed pillar with a projected segmental bowl that leads to a round-headed niche. Above this niche is the bronze plaque, which includes a small relief portrait of John Cross wearing an officer's cap, along with lettering that honors his 17 years of public service, noted for his kindness to the people of Seaforth, including his efforts in organizing soup kitchens for the poor.
