Description
The dovecote and adjoining wall, located approximately 57 meters north of Formby Hall, date back to the early 18th century. The structure is built of brick and features a pyramidal flag roof topped with an open lantern. On the south side, there is a blocked entrance and a bull's eye opening, while the entrance is located on the east side. Inside, the walls are lined with brick pigeon holes. A central brick and stone plinth supports an octagonal timber post set on an iron shoe. The wall to the west is about 40 meters long and 10 meters high, featuring buttresses and three recessed bays on the south side. There have been 20th-century repairs, and a 20th-century lean-to shed is situated on the north side.
