Description
The gate piers and boundary wall on the north side of the farmyard at Meols Hall date from the 18th century and have been altered. The gate piers are made of sandstone ashlar in large dressed blocks and are in a Classical style. They are square, approximately 2 meters high, featuring a moulded plinth and cornice, with swept tops and moulded square caps, which were probably once topped with ball finials. The attached boundary wall is made of red brick and stands about 1 meter high, currently topped with concrete slab coping. The eastern return of the wall connects to a barn on the east side of the courtyard. This structure forms a group with the barn on the west side, the cart shed on the south side, and Meols Hall to the east.
