Description
12 and 14 Sandon Road are a pair of houses, likely built in the early 19th century, with some alterations. They feature roughcast render on brick and have roofs covered with large old slates, with No. 12 having earthenware ridge tiles. The houses have a single-depth plan with two units each, and they are double-fronted.
On the exterior, the buildings have one very low storey, approximately 2 meters high, and each house has two sets of windows. No. 12, on the right, has a 20th-century glazed porch leading to a glazed door, while No. 14 has a 20th-century glazed door. Both houses have two 3-light casement windows, a central ridge stack, and gable chimneys at both ends. There is a small lean-to extension attached to the gable wall of No. 12.
The interior has not been inspected. This pair of houses is an interesting isolated example of a type of dwelling that was characteristic of the area before the development of Southport in the 19th century.
