Description
The entrance to Stanley Dock at the north end, built around 1848 by J Hartley, features gate piers and a gate watchman's hut. The structure is made of granite rubble. The central watchman's hut is oval in shape, with battered sides, a chamfered base, and a Doric capital. It has blocked windows and entrance, along with slots for gates. The side gate piers are similar to the central watchman's hut but smaller, also featuring slots for gates. One of the gateways has been bricked up, while the gateway to the right remains open, complete with the remaining gate.
