Description
The entrance to Stanley Dock at the north end, built around 1845 by J. Hartley, features gate piers and a gate watchman's hut. The structure is made of granite rubble. The central watchman's hut is oval in shape, with a chamfered base, battered sides, and a Doric capital. It has blocked windows and entrance, as well as gate slots. The side gate piers are smaller and similar in design, also featuring gate slots. Both gateways are currently blocked.
