Description
This is a drinking fountain located in front of the entrance to Croxteth Park, dated 1894 and designed by Arthur P. Fry. It is made of stone and bronze, featuring a round base supported by three battered buttresses. On the west side, there is a cusped niche that originally housed a mosaic and a fitting for a fountain, which has since been removed. The fountain includes a stone bowl and a round-headed recess below that serves as a dog bowl. A circular cornice around the top is inscribed with the words "Water is Best, the Gift of Richard Robert Meade-King 1894 designed by Arthur P. Fry." At the very top, there is a stone conical feature crowned by an elaborate bronze street lamp with an ornamented lantern.
