Description
Mossfield is a mid-19th century house located on Childwall Road. The building is constructed of stucco and features a hipped slate roof. It stands two storeys tall and has a three-by-three bay layout. The ground floor showcases channelled rustication, while the first floor has a sill band and a top triglyph frieze adorned with panelled metopes, rosettes, and masks at the corners. The ground floor windows are set within decorative architraves, and the first floor windows have eared architraves with egg and dart mouldings. The central bay on the first floor features a tripartite window with an enriched frieze and cornice. The windows throughout the house are sashed, with some retaining glazing bars. An enclosed porch with flat pilasters, although the details of the capitals and cornices may have been removed in 1984, is present at the entrance, which is flanked by narrow windows. The left side of the house mirrors the front, featuring tripartite rectangular bay windows and balconies above. The roof is punctuated by three chimney stacks, two of which have caps.
