Description
A row of ten houses numbered 6 to 15, along with number 26 Roscoe Street, built in the early 19th century. The houses are constructed of brick with stone dressings, except for number 10, which is stuccoed, and all have pantile roofs. The houses are three storeys high with a basement, and each house has two bays. A sill band is present on the first floor of houses 6 to 12, and there is a top cornice. Deep end stacks are also visible. Each house features sash windows on every floor, with almost all retaining their original glazing bars, stone sills, and lintels. Number 6 has an entrance with a moulded round arched head. Numbers 7/8, 9/10, 11/12 have paired doorways set within common segmental brick arches, each doorway featuring simple Tuscan pilasters and round traceried fanlights. Number 9 retains its complete fanlight and boasts bowed balconies on the first floor. Number 10’s windows are set within architraves, and it has a second-floor sill band. Number 11 has iron handrails to the steps and bowed balconies to the first floor. Number 12 features a blocked entrance and a ground floor window. Houses 13 to 15 and number 26 Roscoe Street were derelict in 1984, suffering from blocked windows and entrances, significant roof loss, and a missing gable facing Roscoe Street.
