Description

Two houses, built in the early 19th century. The houses are constructed of brick with stone dressings, and have a slate roof. They are three storeys high, with a basement, and have three bays each. A band runs along the basement, and another along the first-floor sills. There is a top frieze and cornice. The windows have wedge lintels and are sash windows. The entrances have angle pilasters and entablatures. Iron railings with spearheads are present to the areas and steps. The end two bays of number 38 project to the rear; these windows lack most of their original glazing bars, and the cornice has a blocking course; some railings are missing. Number 40 retains its original glazing bars. The first and second-floor windows in the central bay of number 40 are blind.
