Description
This is a terrace of eight houses located on Canning Street, built in the 1830s. The houses are made of stone and have a slate roof, standing three storeys tall with a basement. Each house has five bays, with the first three and the last four bays projecting forward. The last four bays form a return to No 1 Percy Street. The ground floor is rusticated, and there are sill bands on the first and second floors, along with a top frieze, a modillioned cornice, and a blocking course. The hipped slate roof features stone chimneys.
The first-floor windows have eared architraves, while the windows in the entrance bays and end bays are adorned with friezes and cornices, and those in the entrance bays have consoles. Most windows are sashed with glazing bars. The entrances are highlighted by Ionic porches, with the porches for Nos 4, 6, 12, and 14 being paired. There are decorative iron railings for the areas and steps, as well as iron balconies for the first-floor windows.
Notably, No 6 has had its door replaced by a window and is now combined with No 4 and No 1 Percy Street. No 8 is missing part of its balcony, as is No 14, while No 16 lacks a front to its balcony. No 1 Percy Street features a bowed end bay and a curved angle on its right return. The first-floor windows here also have iron balconies, with the end bay window having a consoled cornice.
