Description
This is a pair of houses located at 22 St Mary's Road, built around 1860. They are constructed of brick with stone dressings and have a hipped slate roof. The buildings are two storeys tall with an attic, featuring four bays. The central two bays project forward under gables, creating a recess between them.
Architectural details include a cornice at the ground floor, a sill band at the first floor, and bracketed eaves. The corners of the houses are accentuated with quoins, and there are decorative bargeboards. The ground floor features stone canted bay windows with moulded surrounds, cornices, and pierced parapets topped with embattled coping. The first-floor windows have stone jambs and lintels with moulded openings, and all windows are sashed. The attic includes cusped pointed windows.
The entrances are highlighted by gabled porches supported by round columns with foliate capitals, featuring flat-topped trefoil arches. The doors are half-glazed and adorned with decorative grilles.
