Description
Newland, located on Huyton Hey Road, is a mid-19th century building that includes No. 1 Victoria Road. It is constructed of brick with a stone base and plaster dressings, topped with a slate roof. The building has two storeys and four bays, with the end bays projecting and featuring recessed curved angles and open pediments.
There is a sill course at the first floor and a top frieze with a bracketed cornice. The ground floor windows are flanked by narrower lights and have a continuous label mould with rosettes, while the main windows are adorned with friezes and cornices. The first floor windows in the centre bays lack flanking lights and have decorative surrounds and cornices; the end bays' windows have continuous label moulds, with the main windows featuring pulvinated friezes and pediments. The windows are sash, with the ground floor end bays having tripartite designs.
The returns of the building include two-storey porches with canted angles, showcasing similar architectural details and half-glazed doors with decorative grilles. There are four stacks with moulded caps.
