Description
West Lodge is a lodge for Claughton Hall, built in the early 19th century. It is constructed of sandstone ashlar and features a tiled roof. The building is single storey with eaves that overhang and have plain timber modillions. At the north end, the gable projects as a pediment, forming a porch supported by four Tuscan columns with clasping pilasters as responds. The eaves project on modillions around the pediment, which displays a carved stone shield of arms with a crest. The door is framed by an architrave. The east wall features three round-arched recesses with keystones, connected by an impost band. The outer openings have sashed windows with glazing bars and round heads. Beneath the middle arch, there is a niche. A chimney is located behind the ridge, aligned with the middle arch.
