Description

The cottage, coach house, and stables, located approximately 10 metres east of the wing of Rufford Old Hall, were likely built in the early 19th century. They are constructed of coursed sandstone, featuring raised quoins and dressings of the same material, and have a slate roof with two levels and a brick chimney at the junction. The building faces south towards a yard.

The cottage is situated at the left end and has a doorway at the left corner, which has large banded jambs that merge with the raised quoins. To the right of the doorway, there is a cross window, along with windows of one and two lights on the first floor. A chimney is located at the right-hand gable. The coach house and stables extend to the right at a slightly lower level, featuring a large segmental-arched wagon doorway next to the cottage, which has a banded surround. There is also a doorway at the right-hand end and another similar doorway midway between them, along with two circular pitching holes for the loft.

At the rear, the cottage projects and includes a door and window at the ground floor, as well as a half-dormer in the eaves. The former rear wagon entrance has been blocked with brick, and there is one window to the stable. The building is listed for its group value.
