Description
Hanging Bridge Farmhouse is a farmhouse, now a house, dating from the early to mid-18th century and has been altered. It is constructed of pebble-dashed brick with a slate roof. The building has a double-depth, two-bay plan, with an outshut at the rear of the second bay. It stands two storeys high and is almost symmetrical. There is a low gabled porch offset to the left of centre, featuring a rounded arch with a keystone. Each floor has two segmental-headed, three-light casements with diamond lattice glazing. A large coupled chimney stack rises from the centre of the front slope of the roof. The rear of the building has various altered segmental-headed windows and an added lean-to porch to the outshut. Inside, the layout consists of a four-room plan surrounding a large central chimney stack. Each front room contains two chamfered beams, with those in the right room having cyma stops. There is also a quarter-turn staircase with stick balusters.
