Description
The Fox Inn and attached former stable is a public house, likely built in the late 18th century, with alterations and an internal extension into the former stable on the right. The building features painted roughcast, probably over sandstone rubble, and has a composition tile roof. It has a double-depth, three-unit plan with extensions at the back. The structure is two low storeys high and has three windows. The doorway is located in the first bay and is flanked by reeded pilasters, topped with a semi-circular canopy, which is now blocked internally. The ground floor has three-light casement windows, while the upper floor features two-light casements, all adorned with applied hexagonal-pattern leading. There are chimneys located at the left gable, on the front slope, and at the right-hand end. The small former stable attached to the right is made of sandstone rubble, consists of one bay and two low storeys, and has a doorway with a thin rectangular lintel, a blocked window on the ground floor, and a two-light casement above, along with a chimney to the right. This building forms a group with the adjoining properties at Nos 18 and 20 to the right.
