Description

These are a pair of cottages, likely dating from the later 18th century and altered since. They are built of coursed squared sandstone with a composition tile roof. Originally designed with a double-depth plan, each cottage was formerly single-fronted, with a through-lobby between the two, now incorporated into No. 9. The cottages are two storeys high, originally having one-and-one windows but now with two-and-one. Each cottage has a doorway to the right, now with 20th-century wooden and glazed porches. No. 9 has a set-in wooden doorcase and board door, while No. 11 has an altered door. There are three-light casement windows on both floors. A former lobby doorway to the right of No. 9 has been altered into a fixed window, and a second first-floor window has been inserted above it. A ridge chimney is present, along with a gable chimney to the left. The cottages form part of a larger group of buildings.
