Description
Nos. 12, 14, and 16 King Street is a row of three cottages built around 1800, which have been altered and are now used as a joiners' and ironmongers' shop and garage. The cottages are constructed from watershot coursed sandstone and feature a stone slate roof with two chimneystacks on the ridge. The building has a rectangular three-bay plan and stands two storeys high.
On the ground floor, which has been mostly altered, there are two horizontal rectangular windows with glazing bars. The window at No. 14 has a doorway to its right side, while Nos. 12 and 16 have plain doorways. No. 16 also includes an inserted garage door. The first floor features mullioned stepped multiple-light windows, with five lights in the centre and two three-light windows on each side.
At the rear, the first floor has matching windows, except for the left end which has been altered. The ground floor at the rear includes two plain doorways, a stepped triple-light window at No. 16 (now boarded), and two other windows. The interior has also been altered.
