Description

This mid-19th century coach house stands approximately 25 metres behind Broadclough Hall. It is constructed of ashlar and has a hipped slate roof with red ridging tiles. The building has a long, rectangular plan. It is two storeys high with a recessed front facade. A long front eave of the roof is supported by slender iron columns on either side of the centre. The facade is symmetrical, with the central bay breaking back to create a segmental-arch wagon entrance. The entrance is defined by splayed voussoirs. Above the entrance are three square openings; the side openings contain 12-paned windows. The right end of the building has a doorway flanked by sashed windows with glazing bars at ground floor, and above these, a square opening flanked by bullseye windows with plain surrounds. The left end mirrors this arrangement, except that a large rectangular garage doorway replaces the original ground-floor door and window on that side. Inside, the right end of the coach house retains original stable fittings.
