Description
Hardman's Mill is a cotton mill built in the late 19th century. It is constructed from dressed sandstone and features a flat roof. The building has a long rectangular plan measuring 20 by 4 bays and stands four storeys high. The south front showcases a projecting five-bay center, which is slightly offset to the right, and has secondary parapets on both sides that are lettered in relief with "HARDMAN BROTHERS." All floors are adorned with flat-headed 20-pane windows, and there is a basket archway at the right (east) end that leads through from the rear. The rear of the building includes a central latrine turret with three latrines on each open deck, another turret that likely serves as a stair turret with windows, and next to the archway at the east end, there is a single-storey engine house topped with a pavilion roof.
