Description

The Manor House at Harrop Fold is a late 17th-century house that has been altered over time. It is constructed from sandstone rubble and features a stone slate roof, forming an L-plan layout.

On the southeast wing, there is a 2-light mullioned window to the left of the door, which has a plain lintel and jambs with an inner hollow chamfer and outer chamfer. To the right of the door is another 2-light window with a plain stone surround and splayed mullion, followed by a window with plain reveals. Above the door on the first floor, there are a 4-light and a 2-light mullioned window, both with small lights and similar chamfer detailing. The first-floor wall to the left of the door has collapsed and has not been rebuilt. The door itself features a plain stone surround and a flat hood made of flagstone. Adjacent to the door is the gable of the adjoining wing, which has a blocked 2-light mullioned window. A chimney is located between the two wings.

The northeast wing has a 2-light window to the left of the door, which has plain reveals and a square mullion. On the first floor, there is a 2-light window that incorporates some 17th-century dressings. To the right of the door, which also has plain reveals, is a straight joint. There are two additional windows to the right, with the right-hand window featuring a moulded lintel. On the first floor, there is a window with glazing bars and plain reveals. The left-hand gable has a stack.

Inside, the left-hand room of the northeast wing contains an 18th-century shouldered moulded fireplace with a fluted false keystone. The main ceiling beams are re-used crucks, scarfed towards the rear wall, and some of the common joists are chamfered and stopped.
