Description
Harrop Lodge is a 18th-century house, marked 'R T 1778' within the pediment of its porch. It is constructed from squared watershot sandstone and features a stone slate roof. The building has a double-pile plan and stands two storeys high with an attic, comprising two bays. The windows are sashed with plain stone surrounds. To the right of the entrance door is a three-light window; on the first floor, there are two two-light windows, all featuring square mullions. To the left of the door is a single-storey canted bay window with blank sides and a sashed window at the front, also with a plain stone surround.
The stone porch includes an inner door with a plain stone surround and an outer architrave topped with a moulded pediment supported by console brackets. Shaped stone gutter brackets are present, and the gables are finished with copings and chimneys. The right-hand (east) gable wall features a Venetian window with a plain stone surround beneath the gable. At the rear, there are four two-light windows with plain stone surrounds, square mullions, and glazing bars. In the centre, there is a tall stair window with a plain stone surround and four transoms, which widens under the eaves to form a three-light attic window.
