Description

This pair of houses, dating from the late 17th century and altered over time, is located on the eastern side of the southern part of a farmyard. Constructed from sandstone rubble and topped with a stone slate roof, the buildings are two storeys high and consist of five bays. The ground-floor windows in bays one, three, and four feature fragments of rebated and chamfered jambs, while bay five has plain reveals. On the first floor, bays one, two, and three have rebated and chamfered surrounds, and bays four and five contain rebated and chamfered three-light mullioned windows. Bay two includes a door with a moulded surround, next to a small rebated and chamfered window that has had its central mullion removed. Between bays three and four, there is a second door with a moulded surround and a shaped lintel inscribed with 'IP'.

Adjoining the houses to the west is a barn, likely built in the early 19th century, made of squared coursed sandstone and covered with modern imitation stone slates. The barn features three wide entrances with long-and-short jambs and segmental arches made from two pieces of stone each, including false voussoirs and projecting keystones. The left entrance is separated from the adjacent one by a quoined straight joint, indicating that it and the left end of the barn may be a later addition. To the far right, beyond the right entrance, there is a door with a plain stone surround, and the ventilation slits also have plain stone surrounds. The right gable of the barn is topped with coping and a kneeler.
