Description

Nos 1 and 3 Castle Gate are mid-19th century buildings that stand three storeys tall, constructed from stone. They feature two windows on the upper two storeys, which are hung sash windows with glazing bars. The late 19th century shop front includes carved pilasters, with end pilasters marking the occupancies. The Castle Gate elevation displays three windows over three, with a band at the first floor cills and one window on the ground floor. The door has a shouldered architrave and consists of four panels with a rectangular fanlight above. There is a modern shop front present. Nos 1 and 3 are part of a group with No 5, which is noted for local interest only.
