Description

Three houses, originally one building, were constructed in the mid-17th century and altered in the mid-19th century. They are built of sandstone rubble with a slate roof. The south wall has four bays and contains mullioned windows with hollow chamfers, further chamfers, and hoods. The ground-floor windows are of 5, 3 (reconstructed), 3, and 2 lights respectively, with a 2-light 19th-century window within a larger opening to the right. First-floor windows feature 3, 3, 2, and 4 lights. A blocked doorway with a chamfered surround and a hood is located between the first and second bays, aligning with the dividing wall between numbers 3 and 2. Chimneys are positioned to the right of the third bay and on the right-hand gable, which is coped with kneelers. The north wall displays ground-floor openings with 19th-century chamfered stone surrounds and hoods. Number 1, on the left, has a door with a window to its right. Number 2 has windows on each side of its door with a central mullion. Number 3 mirrors this arrangement with a window to the right of its door. First-floor windows are 17th-century mullioned windows with hoods, featuring 4, 3, and 3 lights. The interior of number 2 includes chamfered stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops and similar common joists. Some re-used panelling is present with vertical panels and moulded rails and muntins. On the first floor, stone corbels support thin wooden braces to a roof truss, now hidden above a ceiling. This building has group value due to its age and architectural interest.
