Description
Nos. 33 and 35 on King Street are a row of houses and shops built in the mid 18th century. They are constructed of brick with sandstone dressings and feature a slate roof. The building has three storeys and ten bays, with chamfered quoins. The windows have plain stone surrounds with keystones; those on the ground and first floors are sashed without glazing bars, while the second-floor windows are sashed with glazing bars. The third bay includes a blind attic window, and the eighth bay is blind on both the first and second floors. The first, second, ninth, and tenth bays have shop fronts on the ground floor. The third and eighth bays contain doors with architraves that also have keystones. In the fifth bay, there is a door set within a former window surround. Chimneys are located on the gables and between the fifth and sixth bays. Inside No. 35, there are several oak panelled doors typical of the 18th century, along with an oak dog-leg staircase featuring an open string, turned balusters, and a wreathed handrail.
