Description
The lodge at the entrance to Whalley Abbey grounds is likely from the mid-18th century. It is constructed of sandstone ashlar and features a stone slate roof. The building has two storeys, with chamfered quoins and an eaves band. The north wall, which faces the drive, has a stone eaves cornice and is mostly blank except for a door with an architrave. The gables are coped with kneelers, and there is a chimney on the left-hand gable. The right-hand gable wall includes a 2-light chamfered mullioned window on each floor. Additionally, there is a single-storey lean-to addition against the south wall.
