Description

The White Bull Hotel and the former stable adjoining to the north is a public house, likely built in the early 18th century. It is constructed from squared sandstone rubble and features a slate roof. The building has two storeys and four bays, with a string course, a flat floor drip course, shaped stone gutter brackets, and a two-storey porch located at the second bay.

The ground floor windows are modern, while the first-floor windows are sashed, except for those in the porch, which are also modern. The windows have plain reveals with remnants of old surrounds. The right-hand ground-floor bay has been reconstructed, featuring a door and two modern shop windows. To the left of this bay is a blocked opening with a lintel inscribed '1707', which may have been re-set.

The porch is gabled, with coping and kneelers, and is supported by four Tuscan columns, which are said to be Roman. The first-floor windows on both the front and return walls of the porch have plain stone surrounds. There is a blocked attic window with an architrave, and the door has a moulded surround. Brick chimney caps are present on the gables and between the third and fourth bays.

The former stable adjoining to the north features a door with a plain stone surround on the right. To the left of this door is another door that has been blocked to create a window, with a chamfered surround and a lintel dated '1777'. Additionally, on the first floor to the left, there is a circular pitching hole with a plain stone surround.
