Description
Higher Core Farmhouse is a house built in 1731, with some alterations. It is constructed from watershot sandstone and has a stone slate roof. The building has two storeys and three bays. The windows have plain stone surrounds and are mostly sashed, except for those in the second bay, which are sashed with glazing bars. There is a door between the first and second bays, featuring an architrave and a moulded stone plaque above it, inscribed with 'Edmund Margaret Parkinson 1731'. The window mullions have been reused as gutter corbels. The chimneys are located on the gables and between the second and third bays, with the right-hand chimney having a moulded coping and weathered tabling. The right-hand gable includes a blocked rebated and chamfered window surround on the first floor. At the rear of the farmhouse, there are later extensions.
