Description
Priddy Bank Farmhouse and Cottage is a farmhouse dating from the late 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th century and a cottage added to the right end in the 18th century. The building is constructed from coursed gritstone blocks, which are now ribbon pointed, while the left gable is rendered. The cottage is made of random rubble. It features a stone slate roof with a chimney on the left gable and a double chimney stack at the junction, along with coping and kneelers on the left gable.
The farmhouse has two bays that originally included a baffle entry at the right end, with a single-bay cottage added at this end. There is a very deep rear outshut to the first bay. The building is two storeys high. The former chamfered doorway at the right end of the original house has been altered to a window with an inserted mullion. There are two double-chamfered stone mullion windows on each floor, with three lights in the first bay and four lights in the second bay. The ground floor windows have hoodmoulds, and there is an inserted door in the centre.
On the left return wall, there is a door and two small windows at ground floor level, all of which are insertions. The rear of the building features various small windows, including a mullioned two-light fire-window. Inside, the second bay has a large inglenook bressummer beam, which has a housing that may have been for a heck post in the soffit near the front end, along with two chamfered beams resting on it.
